In a 2013 study, researchers found that children ages 3 to 5 whose parents read to them from an electronic book had lower reading comprehension than children whose parents used traditional books. Here’s a whole article on this topic.
Excessive screen time is detrimental not only to our children’s health but also to our own. Our eyes get tired much quicker in front of a computer than in front of a piece of paper. That’s why I always try to read paper books to my daughter. There are enough screens surrounding her as it is. I also love interacting with kids while discussing the story, or in the case of younger children, pointing to objects and witnessing how their vocabulary expands.
But I let the parents choose and make all my titles available both as digital and as paper books.
