Whoever invented Goodreads Giveaways is a genius! It’s such a win-win situation. Readers can request books and some will win paper copies and authors get so much visibility thanks to them.
First of all it’s a huge ego boost for us authors, to see how many readers want to read our books.
Secondly, all of you who add our books to your shelves, show all of your friends that you just requested that book and that’s how authors build their brand awareness.
Thirdly, authors can build a whole army of readers and reviewers just via Goodreads alone (there is some secret sauce needed for this but I won’t get into this here.)
Additionally, the authors who list giveaways are usually very active and it’s very exciting for readers to interact with them. And the opposite is also true - authors get to know their most passionate readers because Goodreads is made up of the creme de la creme of book readers.
So yes, Goodreads Giveaways is one of the best things out there for both authors and readers.
