Mexican View of Halloween

Yesterday in La Paz (Mexico) our tour guide pointed to all the Halloween decorations and said that before the Spaniards arrived to this area, the Mexican people viewed the Day of the Dead as a happy holiday. That’s because they viewed death as a normal cycle of life. The guide explained that nobody cries when a baby is born, and so, nobody cries when a person reemerges into pure positive energy. He explained that it’s the Europeans who associated the feeling of tragedy with death. Death is only rebirth.
